Hi there, this is a bit of misunderstanding, these yellow big batteries 1000Ah from that Norwegian yacht link are actually around somewhere EUR 375,- per kWh now, will last at least 10-15 (5-7-10k cycles) years with little or no maintenance and babysitting each cell, they are in fact cheaper now than comparable quality lead - acids (or nickles or vanadiums) if calculated for the long-term (outlasting several sets of prematurely aging lead acids), plus considering the much better comfort factor. For electric cars or similar special application, what you probably had in mind, there is yet another brand, the so-called "greycell" lithiums from firma CALB, usually in smaller factor ~50-200Ah.

Also not all buildings have lots of space, more importantly certain buildings-dwellings do not even sit on the earth at all,
but need heating/electricity and thus can benefit from CHP as well

Lead acid battery banks have been working for ages in various off-grid/island setups, that's true. I've used and seen some, but it's not pleasant, convenient or financially sound (finally by now) experience at all.

Yep, I asked Spacepter about the battery, I don't think it's in prime condition, plus think about the maintenance necessary during past years.., quite useful for testing/prototyping, but I doubt it's the best candidate for advanced/hitech DríZzleR home installation.
