2015 NSR Gas Station

Beitrag von Sabbadess »

Hi Wood Gassers,

Here is a quick video showing my latest system build:

These will be for sale in 2015 after I finish my validation runs.

Hey Stephen,
why did you connect the cyclone filter after the cooler ?
wouldn´t it be better to put it directly behind the gasifier ?
the most small particles will be filtered out before the gas condesing in the cooler.

Hi Pascal,

True. At some point I may go to two cyclones, but so far I haven't found a need. The problem is that I don't want to decrease the pipe size coming out of the gasifier to get proper cyclone gas speeds because it will create a debris "bottle neck" or trap. If I add a 1.5" inlet cyclone after the gasifier, I not sure how effective it would be. It would be running very slow for the gas speeds I typically use and it would add a lot of cost and gas flow restriction.

You are correct. The only debris my cyclone is collecting feels like talcum powder when it is dry.

Hey Stephen
Did you have water mixed with coal dust in the cooler tubes ?
I found out that these mixture is very terrible to clean... :o
that´s why i only filter in hot stage and after filtering i clean it. So my condensate looks like apple juice.
did you have some pictures from the mixture falling out of the cyclone ?

Hi Pascal,

During my last run I burned chips and there was no condensate despite the low temperatures. The "flour" like char dust from the cyclone was slightly damp but that was all.

I will post pictures of my first, second, and third char sump debris next time I run. I thought about taking pictures but didn't. Most of my debris ends up in the second sump as 8-10mm flakes.
