Hi Jumper,

Was werde dein reflex sein.

It hard to tell all of what you are arguing about because the translator from German to English does not do so well. It is clear though that it is about money if someone wanted to build and sell the "Drizzler" in any form, and also the word Fema came in there.
Well....To comment on the money part. I have no intention of building and selling gasifiers or continuous flow charcoal producing machines. Many are trying to build gasifiers and sell them and the price to buy one ends up far too expensive for the average person. If they are inexpensive it is usually someone trying to pass off something that really don't work all that well. This is true in America at least. I don't know about Europe.
To comment on the Drizzler being a Fema. That argument has been like beating a dead horse. Honestly the "Drizzler" does have a look about it that is Fema. BUT :auto: hang on for the ride here! The process of getting the material in and the production of the tar free fuel, along with the grate etc. is in no way shape or form Fema. The timing of the process of getting the fuel in at just the right time. The pyrotouch keeping the fuel at the right level and packing it into the flaming bed just right (not to hard or to soft) the auger type grate like area only disturbing the reduction zone just the right amount. The way I see it the relationship of those 3 things is so far from a Fema or any other Gasifier for that mater. Luk and Pascal have invested the time and money to work out that relationship of those 3 things, and continue to do so, and hopefully will one day receive the recognition due. Hopefully someday they can be building them and selling them at a price that any home or small farm owner can afford.
Now I would like to ask that my thread I started on building a continuous flow charcoal producer don't get highjacked any longer by what we call in America at least (a pissing match!) It is meant to be for me and others from the American group woodgas and charcoal to learn from.
Thanks :ddaumen:
Kindest regards,

David,

Yes above posts took a little sideway. Basicaly I corrected the misunderstanding of Jumper of the forum idea. In my opinion, it is not becuase one shares on a forum an original idea, that after that, this person can no more claim "emotionaly" the intellectual propierity of this original idea. Even though some others have made adaptions or improvements. ( I write "emotionaly" because in legal terms Jumper is right. It is true that an original idea, once put into the public domain, is no longer patentable).
So I plea for giving verbaly in forums allways credit to the owners of an original idea or mechanical part they brought up first. I try to do that myself. If I use an ejector I mention Stephen Abbadass. The very rudimentary pyrotouch is an offspring from holzgaser, the Charcoal level sensor and idea from holzigas and my cyclone comes from Jim Mason. and so on, and so on. If I was to copy the E-filter Jumper is working on I would say it is the filter of Jumper.

Second I argumented that if somebody makes money (and you are right, in the woodgas era a rare to happen event, I said it would be in the intrests of the commercial seller to give a fee to the original inventor so this inventor would be stimulated to bring up more idea,s. Nobody is helped by frustrated forum members that will after beeing done unjustice go away and stop sharing.

And I am gratefull about your putting the points on the "i" concerning the unfair banalisation of the DriZzleR degrating it by calling it is just a Fema.

Thank you. You are a gentleman.

Dear DriZzleR team and other forum members,
sorry for posting my first entry in this very topic, but I think it's the most appropriate given the above already written.

I'd like to ask you about the next road map for your project.
I think one of the possible avenues for both global recognition of your invention and also the wider and speedier adoption would be something like producing a bit more detailed step by step DVD, you could perhaps start with 2-3kWel project for Honda clone generators with small house sized water buffer/tank and only later add next installment describing the bigger CHP systems with serious car engine 5-7kWel or bigger. Today there is a great opportunity to utilize services such as kickstarter.com, so you can ask the greater internet community immediately for pre-funding of your idea via micro donations, I think as of now in 2016 after two years plus you have made such a great progress, that above mentioned plan might be feasible and successful. Also another completely different avenue could be offering imho your most prized achievement, i.e. the computer control work-flow of the CHP, either as user license or in other form like subscription, donation etc. It would be very unfortunate if after completion of your individual home systems there would no more readily available follow up..

For my part, I'm for the moment just starting to play with mini/learning DriZzleR of "paint bucket fame" mostly to try and observe other possible solid biofuels alternatives besides woodchips and pellets and whether this could be possibly "Pyrotouched" as well. Also I'd like to post a tiny contribution on the generator coupling sooner or later among other things.

PS Luc, I admire your consistent drive to develop also a system for raw woodchips, that's really important view angle at the problem of distributed or island CHP system suitable for large part of the world

thanks

Dear mCHPjr,

Welcome to our forum.
I am traveling this week so I answer only short. You are very right that it should be a pitty to let the DriZzleR concept fade away after only a few benifited from it.
One could not had forseen how firm this concept and in fearly littkle time took ground after the initial start where it was much laughed at by the gasifier community. This untill Pascal prooved the value of the principle in his fully operational Cogen system.
Now I feel we are at the edge of a breakthroug. Happy but at the same time frustrated because we have a lot of new ideas in production and test, but by lack of means in terms of time, workforce and cash all moves far too slowly.
Your suggestion to do a dvd with step by step instruction is long thought of but then we change and improve all the time so never comes a moment of completion. I know...I know...The perfect is the enemy of the good.
A kickstarter program would maybe bring some money but too little to set up a real prototype and R&D atelier for a DriZleR academy and by lack of that so far the DriZzleR is doomed to stay an amateur thing.
By saying so we do the DriZzleR unjustice because by closely looking one can see that known proffesional and commercial gasifiers builders seem to adapt some of the basics of the DriZzleR in their traditional builds. I know of one compagny that did away their expensive sluices and rotary valves and started drip feeding. Another comercial builder drasticaly got rid of his imbert designs and builds now a DriZzleR clone.
This is good but also a little bit sad since little aknowledge the source nor give credits to Pascal and me. But that´s live and it keeps us pushing our limits trying to be a little bit more ahead in further developing the possibility`s of this rare gasifier concept.

Good to hear You start with the mini DriZzleR. Many builders start with too much ambition and altough DriZzle seems obvious and simple it has much to do with a certain knack and a little learning curve is needed. One thing about the mini. The ceramic wool wich i put on the inside of the buckett should NOT cover the outlet hole for the gas. You should cut that hole open otherwice your gas would difficul ignite. I did not showed that clearly in the video.

Now rest me to thank you for beeing an active contributer on our forum and wich you all the succes with your DriZzelr build. You posted video´s in Polish language, are you from a country in central Europe?

Sincerly

Dear Luk,

Thank you for the effort in writing your response.

I think it will take long time before any commercial vendors for the smaller domestic segment as per "mCHP category" might adopt this invention of slow drip feeding and shallow bed pyroburn, and hopefully by that time there will be several "finished" DIY replications anyway, so the credit-recognition for the inventors would be already out there for all to see. By the way, I didn't know that some big industrial vendors are now running away with this idea, is it above or bellow 100kWel?, as I looked now it seems to me one brand from Finland has got very unusually compact gasifiers, so perhaps them..

Yep, I linked a ytb video in Polish, being Czech I just naturally understand the basics, but not fluent speaker or anything. In the same vein, congrats to your work on such historical country estate near Jelenia Góra, I must always chuckle watching your nightly flaring drizzler videos inside that baroque (or older?) vaulted ceilings settings with todays high tech gear like shiny under pressure sensors, mchip motor controllers etc. as almost the sci-fi/retrofuture suddenly going live :o As you probably know Lausitz/Schlesien used to be for several centuries part of Bohemian Kingdom, so nice touch there, borders and state entities seem to change all the time.

All best
Michael

Michael,

The commercial gasifiers based on the DriZzleR concept, I know off, are between 30 and 50 KW. One German compagny adapted not long ago their imberts to "drip feeding"by getting rid of the sluices and rotary valves they used in the begining.
I do not like to drop names. I had enough "Yes/no" discusions in the past, but if you closely follow the gasifier builder scene you will find them by yourself. One compagny, I am not sure is maybe based in your country.

Interesting. I guess it is quite similar across various industries, which are glad to piggyback on previous public domain research of DIYers (or smaller market players), to stick with the topic here, recently I've seen something similar happening in the domain of high efficiency coal burners, the bigger companies just at certain point (when it seems mature or exploitable enough improvement to them) invest more time/money into the original idea of someone else and run with it and often times are unjustly credited with the novelty approach on top of that. Perhaps that's how most the industrial evolution evolved anyway.
